About
Aarathy Kasturi Raj is an accomplished Indian speed skating track athlete who won a bronze medal in the women's 3000m relay event at the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. Aarathy's journey in skating began at the young age of seven, under the guidance of her coach Sathyamoorthy at the Satya Speed Skating Academy in Tamil Nadu.
Throughout her career, Aarathy has participated in numerous national and international championships, amassing over 100 medals. She represented India for the first time at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, where she competed in the 20 km elimination race and finished in seventh place.
Her dedication to the sport was further demonstrated when she overcame a major injury in 2023, requiring 26 stitches from 20 deep cuts, to successfully compete at the Asian Games.
She balances her athletic career with her professional life, working at a hospital run by her family. Aarathy holds an MBBS degree from Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai and a post-graduation in Clinical Embryology.
